The Cooperation with Eastern Europe Division consists of four organisational units: the West Balkans section, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) section, the New Member States of the European Union section and the FDFA Contracts and Purchases section. Switzerland makes a contribution to the transition to democratic, free market systems in the West Balkans and the CIS. The enlargement contribution to the new member states is an investment by Switzerland in the reduction of economic and social disparities in these countries. The Competence Centre for Contracts and Purchases supports the Department with the drafting of contracts, in connection with fees and insurances and with the purchase of services.
